I have been photographing birds since 2005. It started as an interest in identifying the many species that visited my backyard in Tennessee, and grew into a serious hobby. Now I seek birds wherever I travel, and have taken pictures of over 1000 species in the wild, across the US, India, Australia, England, Iceland, Barbados, Mexico, Canada, Spain, Portugal, Kenya, Big Island (Hawaii), Nepal, Italy, and most recently, Panama.
I live in beautiful San Francisco, which is a very birdy city, with over 300 species having been reported here (of which I have been lucky enough to see over 200).
On the next page are my life lists, divided into different regions as below (these do not strictly follow the ABA or AOU definitions). Common names are followed by the scientific name, with additional details if applicable such as alternate names, endemic and endangered status, etc.
1) North America (the continental US 49 and Canada)
2) Mexico and Central America (including the 7 countries between Mexico and Columbia)
3) West Indies (Caribbean)
4) South America (everything south of and including Columbia)
5) Europe
6) India (kept separate as I have done disproportionately more birding there)
7) Asia (rest of the continent)
8) Australia (will include New Zealand in this list whenever I visit)
9) Africa
10) Pacific Islands
11) Antarctica (hopefully will have that dream come true some day)
My equipment:
Cameras: Canon Rebel (for the first few years), 5D Mark 1 (haven't used much for bird photography given the slow frame rate), 7D Mark 2 (my main body)
Lenses: Canon 100-400/f5.6 mm, 500/f4 Mark 2 (my main lens since 2016)
Support (rarely used): RRS TVC-34 tripod, Lensmaster RH-2 gimbal head
Thinking of buying a mirrorless body to go along with my 500 lens with an adaptor.
I recently added an "updates" page to give more details on my birding trips/outings, with dates and highlights.

Enjoy!
