I was inspired to add this as a separate page after my trip to Magee Marsh in Ohio (2022), where I saw many species of these stunning beauties for the first time. For those interested, in May each year, about 35 species make their way from South and Central America to Canada through this very small point on the south shore of Lake Erie. We saw over 20 species in 2 days!
In Aug 2024, when I saw the beautiful Yellow-throated Warbler in Knoxville, it occured to me that I need to keep track of all the warblers I have seen (like I have done with eagles, owls and hummers). These are mostly from the US, and a few from Panama (with some overlap).
As usual, an asterisk indicates I do not have a photograph. *** refers to additional notes below. Images arranged in order of listing.
*** the Slate-throated Redstart (aka Slate-throated Whitestart) has distinct color variations depending on the location (the breast is red in Mexico, orange-red in northern Central America, and yellow from Costa Rica to South America). However, these are not different species or even sub-species(!); all are Myioborus miniatus. I have images of an orange-red bird which showed up as a vagrant in SF, and a yellow one from Panama.
